| Swimming Saves Lives is Coming To Walnut Creek | |

Jul 24, 2012 |
Swimming Saves Lives is coming to Walnut Creek. With months of planning, Walnut Creek Masters’ Swimming Saves Lives program is proceeding to its implementation phase. Dave Skvarna and Leslie Mladinich are dedicating countless hours toward coordinating our efforts with the City of Walnut Creek and United States Masters’ Swimming to provide a free 3-day learn to swim program for adults. The community response has been overwhelming and the spaces filled within the first day of its announcement.
Introduction to water techniques, developed by Coach Kerry O’Brien, have been tested and proven successful. Three 75 minute classes include both classroom instruction and aquatic experience. Our WCM team of volunteers will be trained for one-on-one, in-water-support of new swimmers as they are guided through practical exercises to move through the water.
Instructor training will take place at Clarke Pool on Thursday, August 16. If you are interested in becoming an alternate instructor please contact Dave Skvarna at skvardc@yahoo.com . The Swimming Saves Lives course for the novice and non-swimmer is Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, August 27-29 from 5:45 to 7:00PM.
