Walnut Creek Masters

Walnut Creek Masters, founded in 1976, is a year-round United States Masters Swimming (USMS) program for adults. We are located in Walnut Creek, California and our members reside as close as Orinda, Moraga, Lafayette, Concord, Alamo, and Danville, and as far as Santa Cruz, San Francisco, and Lake Tahoe.

We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that exists to benefit all interested adult swimmers. And our program serves the needs of swimmers of all ages and at all levels, from beginners to former Olympic swimmers. The overriding philosophy of masters swimming is that participation in sports can and should be a life enhancing experience.

Since 2012, we have established ourselves as a community partner through our Adult Learn to Swim Program (formerly called, Swimming Saves Lives), which to date has helped over 150 non-swimming adults gain comfort and confidence in the water. We are dedicated to helping each member achieve his or her goals as an athlete and as an individual.

In recent years, Walnut Creek Masters has transitioned from a team once supported by the City of Walnut Creek’s Recreation and Parks Department to a self-supporting entity whose income derives exclusively from team membership fees, hosting and sponsoring various Pacific Masters meets and competitions, and the generous donations of our members. Charitable donations – whether through corporate matches, holiday auction proceeds and planned giving help us keep our very talented coaches on staff, maintain a scholarship program for members in need, and maintain healthy reserves for unforeseen financial circumstances. If considering donating to Walnut Creek Masters, please consult a tax advisor.

Our program emphasizes structure and continuous instruction. We are a true community program, serving over 500 team members.

We look forward to seeing you at the pool!
