Peachy Time in Georgia

WCM took a smaller team of 21 swimmers this year to Nationals in Atlanta, but that did not stop us! We still managed to finish third out of 165 teams in the Club Division with 548.5 points.

Susan Strong started us off with a win on day one in the 1000 – it was a great swim and set the tone for what was to come. We had five others swimmers win National Championships. On day two Lisa Ward and Roque Santos won their 400 IM’s and Roque won his 50 breaststroke. He followed that up with wins on day three in the 100 breast and 200 IM.

The final day… the final event of the day and of the meet – the 200 Breaststroke turned out to be the event of the meet for WCM. Debbie came from behind to win the Women’s 40-44, and then Peter Guadagni had an exciting race winning his first National Championship. It was fun to watch! Pat Duggan followed with a great race – some tremendous pulldowns – and a win in his race. Roque finished up the meet with a win in his 200 breast as well!
